Finding the Voice Beyond Words
We often meet clients at times when words are difficult to find. Trauma, vulnerability, or wounded parts of the self can leave clients without sufficient resources to express or make sense of their experience through language alone.
This experiential, in-person workshop in London, led by experienced Gestalt therapist Hannah Rees, explores how sung voice, embodied sound, and vocalisation can support clients to access and express pre-verbal and wounded parts of themselves.
Hannah is an experienced Gestalt therapist and will draw on Gestalt, Polyvagal Theory, and parts work to offer practical and embodied approaches that can be integrated into therapeutic practice.
The workshop will support practitioners to:
- Explore voice and sounding as resources for grounding, embodied presence, and co-regulation within the therapeutic relationship.
- Develop awareness of the voice as a non-verbal expression of empathic attunement and contact.
- Practise moving from verbal narrative into embodied experience through sound and vocalisation.
- Explore giving voice to different parts of the self through vocal improvisation and song.
- Develop confidence and discernment in introducing simple somatic vocal experiments into client work.
